Since 2005, NYC has held a cooking competition called the Vendys to find the best street chef in the city.  With the hugely popular food truck culture that has taken root in LA, it only makes sense that the Vendys are now held here as well!  This Sunday, June 24th, the cook-off will take place at Pan Pacific Park next to The Grove.  7 finalists were chosen based on public nominations taken during the Spring, and on Sunday afternoon they will battle each other for street food stardom!  A team of distinguished judges will score the finalists and the winner will take home the Vendy Cup.  Some of the finalists include the India Jones Chow Truck, specializing in Indian street food and curries, the Lime Truck, serving up California-style food like carnitas fries and ahi tuna poke nachos, and Martha’s Tamales Organicos, serving tamales, of course!  Tickets are $40 and includes food from all 7 of the finalists while supporting LA City Farm, a non-profit focusing on making local farmed organic produce more available in Southern California.
